Welcome

Welcome! I am really happy that you have chosen to look around our website. I hope we’re able to give you an insight into what St Mary’s Catholic Primary School is truly about.

We are a Voluntary Aided school that was founded in 1933 by the Religious Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Mary. The aim even back then was to serve the wider parish and we have been at the core of our community ever since. We pride ourselves in being a welcoming and inclusive school, developing friendship, love, understanding and respect for ourselves, others and the wider community. We aim to create an environment in which everyone - children, staff and parents - may grow in their faith and love of God, developing respect for themselves along with an awareness of the needs and gifts of others. One of the things I was delighted to learn when I joined St. Mary’s was how everyone engaged in our community is considered part of a family where we follow Jesus’ call to help one another – and everyone does this with all their heart. From Governing Body, support staff and teachers, to our Parent Teacher Association – everyone truly prioritises the wellbeing, development and experience of all the children at St Mary’s.

Our curriculum aims to build upon children’s prior learning, provides first hand learning experiences and allows children to develop their inter-personal skills with Jesus at the centre. We aim to build growth mind-sets, build resilience and encourage the children to become creative, critical thinkers. We see our children as independent learners, pupils of constant growth, with an infinite ocean of progress to be explored, navigated and conquered before them – and we support them by developing, cultivating and achieving their inherent potential.

Please enjoy your visit to our site and if you would like any further information about our school, don’t hesitate to contact us. A member of staff would be delighted to answer your query.

With prayer,
