Oracy
Oracy is learning how to communicate effectively. At St Mary's we practise this physically using body-language, expression and gesture. We build children's linguistic skills, exposing them to rich vocabulary, language and rhetorical techniques such as humour and irony. We ask our children to think about and understand the ways and reasons why we communicate with each other, examining content and structure as well as encouraging debate and discussion. We use all aspects of oracy to develop social and emotional intelligence.
